Please, if you do not see your donation above, tell me, and I will ask WildlifeDirect to trace it.

This total also does not include the cheques that a couple of you have sent to WildlifeDirect’s US office. Once I have confirmation from WildlifeDirect that they have been received, then I will add them to the total.

Thank you to everyone from all of us here at the Mara Conservancy.

Hi Kimojino, I just uploaded a podcast on baraza blog with a conversation with chief Kipas in which he describes the effect of the tourism collapse on the Masai community. He said they would never kill the wildlife. I hope he stays true to his word. It is unfortunate that we haven’t been able to fill that shortfall for the Mara yet. I’m interested in knowing what the effect of the shortfall is. How is the Mara Triangle coping?

Hello Paula.

If you read our latest posts you will be able to see more of the wider affects that this crisis is now having. It is fair to say that there is an ever growing conflict between the community and the wildlife, which we have been trying to pacify this last week with meetings.

We also do not have enough this month for rangers salaries and patrols, and so we can see that things may get worse here although we are still remaining hopeful.

Joseph, I thank you and your ‘team’ for all the hard work you are doing trying to control the poaching and of course dealing with the community and the wildlife. This has been a tough road for everyone. I have never in my life wished for time to pass quickly and the return of the tourists to the Mara.

Reading the names of the donors, their contributions and comments on your blog makes my heart happy that there are really caring people out there that support all your and the Rangers efforts.

Yes, Dana, I am so with you on your comment. Thank you to you Joseph and your Rangers for coping as you have with all this with such integrity and dedication. And to the donors. And to Will, who has been incredible and such a tireless trooper through all this with this incredibly great fundraising campaign and Will’s blog posts as well. Now the new cabinet has been picked (albeit bloated) perhaps more countries will soon lift the travel advisory. And let’s hope lots of Kenyans are cashing in on those great deals!

I have also recently made few donations which I never saw on your lists. It’s only now that I see my name on the list for the latest one of my donations.

Will, on 07 Apr 2008

Thank you Pirjo for bringing my attention to this - I have sent you an email.
