The Tireless Support of CMC

Category: Donations | Date: Jul 25 2008 | By: William

Just one week ago our tyres were bald. Completely bald. But we now have brand spanking new ones on the Landcruiser, Cheetah II and Cheetah III vehicles.

Which means a lot less punctures and a happier Saitoti.

A huge thank you to CMC Motors, Kenya, for the endless donations in spare parts.

Oh, i love this cars. congratulations for your blog, i think you do an important work to save the serengeti. A greeting from Spain!!

Thanks to CMC Motors also - I know those tyres have to cost a bundle! I’d love to send an email to them thanking them for their support. Their Nairobi Branch however doesn’t show an email address. Is that where the tyres/parts come from?

By the way, how’s the migration going?

This is great work, keep it going! I just read an article on the blog in spanish newspaper El Mundo: http://www.elmundo.es/elmundo/2008/07/25/cronicasdesdeafrica/1216989544.html
and discovered the blog. It’s specially rewarding to see people working against the snares. Well done. You are such an example to the world’s population.

Joseph, I was visiting your area in the 80’s so I know very well that what you are doing is absolutely necessary and also a nice task for the future (and for the present as well).
Best regards from Barcelona (Catalonia).

Kimojino, Catalonia no existe. Un saludo desde España.

Miquel, on 26 Jul 2008

Joseph, as you can see above somebody said that Catalonia does not exist, in a new proof that the ignorance of some spaniards has no limit. I can happily confirm you that Catalonia is my country, and the country of seven and a half milion people. Catalonia is one of the oldest european nations, one thousand years old. If you look at a map, you will find it just in the north-east of the iberian península, just between Spain and the Mediterranean sea. Among other particularities, we have our own language as well. And last but not least, if you look at the spanish budget you will easily discover that at least for paying taxes to Spain, Catalonia is a full reality. Best regards to my kenian friends and to my spanish friends as well.

A big welcome to all the new visitors to the site. The weekends are always very busy for us here, but we will try to be online soon to answer comments and emails.

William, I just set up a monthly donation. It’s not much but it’s all I can spare right now :) I’d also like to offer you my services as a professional designer… I think there are some small changes you could make to make it easier for folks to donate & increase the number of donations. Just shoot me an email, I’d love to help.

Awful quiet on the blog. What’s happening in the Mara?

Will, did you get my donation that I sent through the Washington DC office yet? Check has been cashed!

William, on 03 Aug 2008

Sorry! Every six months we have ‘transfer’ here in the Mara Triangle, when all the wardens and rangers are moved around from one base to another. This has changed things somewhat for the blog as Kimojino is now Warden of Anti-Poaching at Ngiro-are Outpost, and so he is not going to be able to post as regularly.

We will now have more rangers involved with the blog, and you can see this starting to happen over at http://www.maratriangle.org

Yes, online we’ve also had a transfer although we will still be here on WildlifeDirect. We decided it was time to revamp the Mara Conservancy website - again I’ll update you shortly.

William, on 03 Aug 2008

Dana - I will ask WildlifeDirect tomorrow about the cheque.

Dana-Phoenix, Arizona, on 03 Aug 2008

Sorry Will - I didn’t mean to imply that you were lounging around the pool at the Serena :>)

Like the “new” look of the Conservancy website–it is now bookmarked as a “Favorite” on my computer.

Hope we will be able to visit Joseph way over at the Ngiro-are Outpost in September. Our dinner may have to change to a lunch ;>)

Thanks for the heads up on my check.
